Václav is mild-mannered notary public who settles disputes with a calm appeal to reason. The qualities have made him a respected figure in the small Czech town where he lives with his loyal wife Vera and their two young children - but also a prime target of the Communist Party, who pressures him to join the ranks. Václav continues to refuse but the year is 1968 and Soviet tanks are already roaming the streets.

Beata Parkanová is a screenwriter, director, and book author. She graduated from the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 2015. Before starting a film career, she wrote several books, including ones for children. Her feature film debut Chvilky (2018), was screened in the East of the West Competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
